Meet Dr. Timothy Swanson

Timothy Swanson, DDS

I very much enjoy the profession of orthodontics and strive to provide the best orthodontic care possible for my patients. My philosophy is to have a patient-centered approach to treatment, and engage all my patients at every visit to improve their smiles. I am originally from Austin, Minnesota but grew up in Modesto, California. After dental school, my military career took me to many places in the world but I am glad to be back in Minnesota.

Education

After a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco. I was commissioned as a Captain in the Dental Corps and I completed an advanced education in general dentistry residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. I completed my orthodontic specialty training at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio. During my training, I received the Health Professions Scholarship, the Dr. Eric Bystrom Memorial Award Scholarship, and the Operative Dentistry Award for the Class of 1997. I also earned membership in the Tau Kappa Omega and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor societies.

As an Army Dental Corps officer, I visited many different countries while advancing my professional skills. I lived and lectured in Germany and Italy. I recently had the opportunity to lecture to dental residents at the Air Force Academy. I have published articles in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.
